Product finder plug-in refrigeration & heat pumps: Beverage coolers
The following glossary is based on information provided by topten.eu and taken from additional sources such as technical standards and legislative documents.
Refrigerated display cabinets, bottle coolers, and ice-cream freezers
Please note: A very good source for additional definitions for Refrigerated Display Cabinets is standard ISO 23953-1.
Ambient temperature: Suitable ambient temperature range in °C as recommended by the manufacturer.
Climate class: classification of the test room climate according to the dry bulb temperature and relative humidity (correction factor that accounts for the difference in ambient conditions for which the refrigerated display cabinets, bottle coolers and ice cream freezers are designed for)
Energy Efficiency Index (EEI): index number for the relative energy efficiency of a refrigeration appliance expressed in percentage (%), calculated according to the official EU regulation 2019/2018. The EEI is the basis for determining the energy efficiency class (energy label) from A to G.
Net volume: the usable part of the unit for storing or displaying foodstuffs, after deducting the volume of components and unusable spaces from the gross volume, in litres
Refrigerant: the product finder only lists models with natural refrigerants like R290 (propane), R600a (isobutane), R744 (carbon dioxide)
Temperature class: temperatures measured inside the cabinet during the energy consumption test. Classes are as follows:
Temperature classes for horizontal and vertical refrigerated display cabinets:
M0 | -1°C to +4°C | |
M1 | -1°C to +5°C | |
M2 | -1°C to +7°C | |
H1 | +1°C to +10°C | |
H2 | -1°C to +10°C | |
Max. temperatures of warmest m-pack: | ||

Total display area (TDA): the total visible foodstuffs and other items area, including visible area through glazing, defined by the sum of horizontal and vertical projected surface areas of the net volume, in square meters (m2);
